The Degree in Tourism is an official university program offered by the University of Zaragoza, through Zaragoza University School of Tourism (ETUZ).

Our curriculum is designed to effectively meet the professional and academic demands of the tourism sector, a dynamic, growing industry full of career opportunities.

It covers everything from business management, tourism marketing, and foreign languages, to specialized knowledge in areas such as tourist destination geography, art and heritage, and sustainable tourism.

Over the four years of the Degree in Tourism, you will complete 240 ECTS credits (60 per year). The study plan combines a variety of subjects:

  • Basic Training (BT): to acquire fundamental knowledge.
  • Compulsory courses (OB): to deepen and consolidate your education.
  • Electives (OP): allowing you to specialise according to your interests.
  • Internships (PE): apply what you have learnt in a real-world setting.
  • The Final Degree Project (TFG) is the project that marks the completion of your studies.

Orientation

First Year

In the first year, students build a solid foundation with courses such as destination geography, cultural heritage, art history, and sociology. marketing, business management, tourism law, and applied ICT are also introduced to. English plays a key role from the very beginning.

This is a year of adaptation and basic training, combining essential knowledge to help students navigate the tourism field with a critical perspective.

Professionalisation

Second Year

In the second year, students deepen their knowledge of the sector with subjects such as Tourism Intermediation, Economic Structure of Tourism, and Art History. Languages remain a key focus, with courses in English, French, and German. Essential subjects are also introduced to provide a solid understanding of tourism business management.

Most students gain their first professional experience through extracurricular internships with partner companies.

Professionalisation

Third Year

In the third year, students deepen their understanding of territorial planning and tourism resource analysis, gaining a strategic perspective on the environment and its management. Key business areas such as strategic management, hotel management, and talent management are covered, alongside strong language training.

Most students combine their studies with extracurricular internships or employment in the sector, applying their knowledge in real-world settings.

Specialization, Practicum, and Final Degree Project

Fourth Year

This final year is designed as a period of specialization and professional consolidation. After exploring various areas of the sector, many students have already defined their focus: tourism consulting, hotel management, event organization, destination management, marketing, among others.

It is the time to concentrate, choose relevant electives, and integrate what has been learned through practical experience via curricular internships and the Final Degree Project.

HOW IS STUDYING AT ETUZ?

The Degree in Tourism at the University of Zaragoza is delivered in person at our center, the Zaragoza University School of Tourism (ETUZ). Small class sizes allow for personalized teaching tailored to the needs of the students, which promotes the best possible academic performance.

Classes are held in the morning, from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

Throughout the academic year, visits to key tourism agents and relevant destinations are regularly organized. Our main goal is for students to gain a comprehensive understanding of the tourism sector from various perspectives, through direct experiences that enrich their education.

Expertia Tour Series

The Expertia Tour series invites prominent professionals from the tourism field to the Zaragoza University School of Tourism. Their participation offers us the opportunity to broaden our sector perspective, discover new trends, identify best practices, and learn from real and successful experiences.

Coffees with Alumni

Periodically, our alumni hold informal meetings with current students. These mentoring sessions strengthen the ETUZ intergenerational network and provide first-hand insights into the working world, sharing experiences and advice from those who have already started their professional journey.

TRAINING EXPERIENCE

The practical approach is one of the main distinguishing features of the Zaragoza University School of Tourism. From the first year, our students become integrated into the professional environment through internships in companies and institutions in Aragón, across Spain, and abroad. This early connection with the labour market allows them to gain solid experience, supported by paid internships with high educational value. In fact, very few students complete the fourth year without having successfully completed a practical placement that strengthens their professional profile.
